         About course:- Certificate course inclinical training and instrumentation skills(CTIS) is a part of Medical Lab Technologist Diploma course. Medical laboratory technology is the branch of medical science (Medical science is part of life science) responsible for performing laboratory investigations relating to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The main subjects to be covered during in this Certificate Course. Within completion of one year of the above-given course, the candidate after undergoing requisite course module, a diploma will be awarded and have an option to continue if desired, the degree course, within the requisite time schedule as mentioned in the degree course. Actually the duration of Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology is generally two years, but our expectations at least some of the  interested candidates can utilize this opportunity and get job opportunities in hospital or medical field, but it depends mainly on the criteria prescribed in different institutes in India.

 

 

The goal of this programme is to standardize Pathology teaching at Diploma level throughout the country so that it will benefit in achieving uniformity in teaching as well and resultantly creating suitable manpower with appropriate expertise. The Diploma student should be trained in handling and processing histopathology, clinical pathology, microbiology, biochemistry and transfusion medicine samples with a knowledge of general principles and methodology. The purpose of this document is to provide teachers and learners illustrative guidelines to achieve defined outcomes through learning and assessment.

Unit- I

Basic principles of Laboratory Equipments

1.1. Basic principles and fundamentals of Lab equipments

1.2. Cleaning and Safety measures

1.3.Common glassware in clinical laboratory.

1.4. Care and Maintenance of equipments:

 DigitalBalance, Centrifuge , Hot Air Oven , Incubators , Water Bath, Microscopes, Autoclave, Calorimeter, Spectrophotometer, Micro pipettes, Refrigerators.

 

Unit-II

Basics of Hematology and Clinical Pathology (Body Fluids)

2.1. Blood and its constituents - Origin, Development, maturation, functions and morphology of blood

        cells.

2.2. Blood Bank –ABO Blood grouping and typing, Cross matching, blood collection, testing for S TD, HIV, 

       Hepatitis B and C, VDRL, malaria, Rh antibody titration, Quality control.

2.3. (a) Reception of Patients, The Microscope- Types, Parts, Cleaning, and Care.

       (b) Examination of Urine and Body Fluids.

2.4. (a) Causes of disease and its pathogenesis.

       (b) Reaction of cells, tissues, organ systems.

 

Unit –III

Clinical Biochemistry

 

3.1. Possess knowledge of the normal range of values of the chemical content of body fluids,   

       Significance of the altered values and its interpretation.

       A.Disorders of Carbohydrates, Nutritional Disorders B. Liver function tests

3.2. Sugar estimation in blood and urine Know the principles and methodology of quality control in   

        Laboratory.

3.3. Estimation of carbohydrates, proteins and lipids.

3.4. Investigation of different parameters in blood sample

 

Unit –IV

Micro-Biology and Immunology

4.1. Acquire knowledge of the following: -

       Stool examination, AFB staining of sputum

4.2. Bacterial culture.

4.3. Types of immune systems.

4.4.Antigens and Antibodies, Types of Antigens.
